like seriously: chapter forty-two
on august 7th 2009, typhoon morakot rocked the little sweet-potato-shaped country, taiwan, a country close to the heart of one of us at like seriously. it was her home for 3 years in her younger years, where she learned how cool it was to dress up in layers during winter, where she got her first highlights, where she experienced typhoons (her mom prolly broke more than 10 brollies during those days) and earthquakes even. it was where she learned that these natural disasters are nothing to joke about. they take lives away but they also bring lives together.
on august 8th 2009, this little country got drenched, soaked and flooded. then families got separated and stranded alone in darkness with nothing but just pool after pool of dark water threatening to swallow them up. the only hope keeping them alive is knowing that they might be able to see their friends and family again. the only 'food' they have as nourishment is to drink that water that might have killed their loved ones.
this little country is now appealing to the world with a campaign to save their little ones, to give the little children affected by this life-taking disaster hopes to being able to lead somewhat more normal lives when life does finally get back to normalcy.
it is at these times of destruction and total despair that we can see mankind's strongest bond and love for people of all race and religion. just like in any other disaster, rescue and relief teams go all out to save people, risking their own lives so that another person may live. for those of us who can't do more than sit and watch the news unfold day after day, we can already do a lot by praying for the people who are still stranded and waiting to be saved. silently giving these brave souls support, love and prayers can sustain them to strive to live for just one more hour, one more day or even one week. that is how strong the bond is between all mankind. we're all holding an invisible string that connects us to the six billion other souls on this earth. tug on that string and somewhere out there, someone else will feel that pull on their heart.
but every girl knows chic clothes can pull on her heart at any time, anywhere. so now let like seriously tug at your heart *wink*
